http://primitivepathways.com Spring is here, and it's a great time to forage for wild edible plants! It's amazing how many edible plants can be found growing in your own backyard. Come with Billy Berger as he finds and describes some common wild edible greens. These wild plants are often more nutritious than anything you can buy at the grocery store. Do not eat any wild plant that you are unfamiliar with, as there are poisonous look-alikes. But with proper instruction there are an enormous number of wild edibles just waiting for your discovery.
If you know the 10 most common trees, you can identify almost half of all the trees in the PA forests.

The Monaca smelter at Josephtown, Pennsylvania was constructed by the St. Joe Lead Corporation in 1930 to produce zinc oxide from primary zinc sulfide concentrates. The plant also produced as a byproduct sulfuric acid for the local steel industry. Zinc ore, from the company's Balmat mine in St. Lawrence County, New York and other sources, was shipped to the Monaca smelter for final processing. By 1936, the plant started producing zinc metal from the concentrates. In the 1940s the plant's feedstock also included material from secondary sources, primarily high-grade dross and skimmings. Over the life of the operation, the dusts, fumes, and gases generated at Monaca contained cadmium, carbon, copper, iron, lead, mercury, silica, and zinc, as well as other materials. After nearly 20 years of planning, the National Museum of Industrial History opened in Bethlehem Pennsylvania this week. The long-delayed industrial museum, housed in the century-old former Bethlehem Steel plant, was finally opened for visitors wishing to experience the showcase of American industrial might. After about 140 years of metal production, the plant's blast furnaces went cold in 1995. Located on the banks of the Lehigh River, Bethlehem was responsible for manufacturing the Golden Gate Bridge's legendary beams, the Rockefeller Plaza skeleton and armor plates for countless American warships. "Where better to showcase this history than where it happened?" said museum director Rusty Baker, speaking of the museum's poignant locale, adding "It really puts it into context." http://host...
